Tasnim News Agency describes last night’s operation as the IRGC’s longest-range artillery operation yet.

The Iranian Tasnim news agency provided additional details about the operation carried out by the Islamic Revolution Guard against a Mossad headquarters in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan region, and ISIS sites in Idlib and other Syrian regions, focusing on the technicalities of the artillery weapons employed during the operation.

The name of the long-range point-precise missile, Kheibar-Shekan, literally translates to the fortress-buster which is a very seemly name given its unique features of being capable of overriding missile defense systems.

Longest-range IRGC artillery operation yet

The Iranian agency dubbed the operation the longest-range Missile Operation of the Revolution’s Guard.

Statements by Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh, the commander of the Aerospace Force of the Revolution’s Guard, clarified that the distance from Khuzestan (the site of launching the Kheibar-Shekan missile) to Idlib in the northeastern (where ISIS command centers were targeted) is estimated at 1200 kilometers, making it the longest-range missile operation by the Revolution’s Guard.

Regarding the Kheibar-Shekan ballistic missiles used in the operation, the agency reported that the unveiling of this missile coincided with the commemoration of the 43rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in 2021, attended by Brigadier General Mohammad Baqeri, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and Brigadier General of the IRGC Amirali Hajizadeh during a visit to one of the ground-to-ground missile bases belonging to the IRGC.

The long-range and point-precise Kheibar-Shekan missile is a third-generation long-range missile developed by the IRGC: possessing unique features.

Overrides air-defense systems

It operates on solid fuel, and during the descent phase, it can maneuver and dodge interceptor missiles of the defense systems. Its improved design has reduced its weight by a third compared to similar models, and the preparation and launch time has been reduced.

The missile has a range of 1450 km and is equipped with an integrated guidance system with a maneuverable warhead.

The missile was entirely designed and built, from concept to production, by experts of the Aerospace Force of the IRGC.
